What Are
They?
-
While the
Toyota Prius gets most of the press these days, in
reality there are quite a few different models of
hybrid on the market.
-
Some are
full fledged hybrids like the Prius that use
electric motors to not only power the wheels, but
also to capture otherwise wasted energy when the
vehicle decelerates. This captured energy is used to
recharge the car’s battery pack.
-
Some are
partial hybrids that simply shut the engine off when
the vehicle stops and then use a battery pack and
electric motor to restart the vehicle when the
driver puts their foot on the accelerator pedal.
This all happens without the driver needing to take
any special action.
-
ALL still
use a gasoline engine that requires maintenance.
-
ALL still
have brakes, steering, exhaust, etc. that require
maintenance.
-
We have a
number of customers who drive hybrids.
-
We service
these vehicles regularly.
-
We own
the Toyota and Honda factory scan tools to diagnose
any problems with these cars.
-
We have
compiled a binder of articles on hybrids that may be
of interest to you. You are welcome to stop in and
check it out.
