- Many factors can affect your fuel mileage. From
engine condition to driving habits, all contribute to
how efficiently your car or truck uses fuel
How do you know you are getting the best possible
mileage?
- We have the equipment, training and skills to check the following
items to make sure your car or truck is getting the best
possible mileage. We check:
- Tire pressure (low tire pressure creates a
drag and lowers mileage)
- Air filter (if the engine can’t breathe, if
can not run efficiently)
- Alignment (if the wheels are not aligned, the
car is harder to push down the road)
- Sparkplugs (as early as 60,000 miles, most
sparkplugs are badly worn – worn sparkplugs cause the
gas to not completely burn robbing power and fuel
mileage)
- Sparkplug wires (wires are made out of
silicone and rubber that breakdown from carrying
40-50,000 volts every day)
- PCV valve (the PCV valve clogs with varnish
and sludge and affects engine breathing)
- Fuel Filter (often overlooked – a clogged
fuel filter robs power)
- Brakes (to make sure none are dragging and robbing
fuel mileage)
- Computer system fuel trim (sensors in the
computer system wear – as they wear, they can cause more
fuel to be used than is necessary – let us use our
computerized test equipment to determine how the system
is performing)
